Pregnancy Massage – seated or lying sideways

Pregnancy massage is massage therapy specifically tailored for the expectant mother’s needs often seen as part of prenatal care.  Research has shown that mothers-to-be experiencing regular pregnancy massage found that it significantly helped with the normal discomfort of pregnancy such as aches and pains, headaches and swelling .
It is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness as it improves both circulation and emotional well-being. Nice also to have a bit of pampering especially at those times when you feel a bit tired and hormonal.

Postnatal Massage – lying flat, side-ways or seated

It’s important for new Mums to have some me-time especially after the birth in the midst of the chaos of bringing a new baby home. There may be aches and pains post-delivery or you may be breastfeeding and have an achy back and shoulders … or you may just feel like a bit of pampering.

You may also feel the need to re-connect with your body again after pregnancy. Massage is deeply relaxing, feels indulgent and encourages the body to release the Endorphins which are our body’s ” natural feel-good hormones”. It helps to release the flow of Oxytocin which helps triggers the “Letdown Reflex” for breastfeeding.

Massage also improves mood and lowers stress levels which can be especially helpful if you are struggling with the  “Baby Blues” or sheer exhaustion after delivery.

Full Body Side-lying Pregnancy and Postnatal Hawaiian Lomi Lomi style Massage

Hawaiian Lomi Lomi is a deeply relaxing massage that uses long flowing strokes along the body which brings profound healing to mind and body. It releases tension within the body as well as soothing the mind. Tummy massage strokes are optional. We work along one half of the body from the feet up then you turn over onto your other side. Lomi Lomi with natural Coconut Oil is the traditional way to massage, however it is possible to use some Grapeseed oil with essential oils too.

My couch is extra long and extra wide so plenty of room and width to stretch out into the most comfortable position. You will be supported by my L-shaped cushion or pillows. We will use a sheet and sarong to cover one half of your body with the option to wear a disposable paper thong for ease of movement and you will be discreetly covered at all times.

Hawaiian Lomi Lomi is available at The Rosemount Centre on Thursdays from 3pm till 9pm and Saturdays from 10am till 4pm as I need the bigger room for this couch and ease of movement.

Reclining or side-lying Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy massage with Grapeseed oil and essential oils can be very beneficial in helping with those pregnancy aches and pains. Massage can be firmer on the areas where you have tension such as neck and shoulders or lower back and more flowing in other areas that simply need some pampering. Some head massage and reducing swelling in the feet and ankles can also feel really good, especially in late pregnancy. Leg and foot massage can also be achieved by lying sideways or reclining on the couch.

Tummy massage strokes are optional. You can either be propped up on the massage couch or lying side-ways supported by my L-shaped cushion or pillows. We will use towels to cover you and only open up the area that we will be working on at that time.
